Radiohead : In the Rainbow - Album Review

So we're back to music reviews, this time with an old -but gold- album "In the Rainbow" by the English Alternative/Experimental  rock band "Radiohead" , the album was released at the very end of the year 2007 and the 1st of Jan of the year 2008 .

so let's get started:


15 Steps
                                  
Well, that's a hell of a start! the first song is to be about frustration and always ending up in the same place and making bad decisions over and over !
we have a very heavy rhythm at the opening that would blow your mind off If you're listening through your headphones, the clattering beats and the drums along with the handclaps are just from another dimension !
Though I'm not sure about the title itself, I've heard that's it may be referring to the number of steps you take to the gallows before being executed, maybe !


Bodysnatchers
                             
                                  
So we're back to the old-school Radiohead and their challenging blues guitars that kind of makes you deaf after listening to it for few times -you can NEVER be satisfied by listening to it one time- !
The lyrics are about feeling trapped in your skin that doesn't fit you, and hiding your real self from everyone because he has to play another role given to him by the society, that would be a good song for LGBT coming out :)
"I have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm trapped in this body and can't get out''
The guitar riff though *_* !


Weird Fishes/Arpeggi

                                   
This one's a dreamy! The relaxed-but-dance-y drums sounds good, especially behind the arpeggios cycles. And being the longest track here was quite helpful with the dreamy mood.
The song is about finding love, Fishes are us, and the sea in our subconscious and that song is our journey to self-discovery, at least that's what I got in my mind when I'm not daydreaming listening to it :)
You can't help but falling in love with this beautiful song :)


All I need

                                     
This song is perfect!
With its electronic pulses, that Cello effect, synths and white noise !
And the Piano featuring at the end, just makes it more majestic!
The song itself is about the one and only, the "Unrequited love"
you hate it but still can't help but loving it, I guess the lyrics demand no further explanation:
"I'm a moth, who just wants to share your light, I'm just an insect, trying to get out of the night,
you're all I need"

This is sad and beautiful in so many ways <3


House of cards
                                   
It's all about that acoustic guitar, with some unsettling electronic pulses behind it, making it more reggae-ish and even close to the R.E.M band slow songs, also the guitar picking is almost pretty joyful but a bit dreamy too.
The song is about him asking the woman he loves to leave her marriage 'house of cards' and he'll also do the same so that they'd be together!
"throw your keys in a bowl, kiss your husband a goodbye"  I guess that sums it all !


Jigsaw falling into place

Starts with a spanish-style guitar then diving into an acoustic guitar loop with some drums,
I have to admit this is almost the best lyrics ever sung by Radiohead, they're pretty genius!
It's about meeting someone and having a really good time with that you feel like a jigsaw piece falling simultaneously into it's right place, no matter how it ends or what happens next,
I LOVE Thom Yorke's voice here, it's perfect !
